Tuning stringed instruments
When you are tuning a stringed instrument, the instrument will stay in tune longer if you make sure that you always "tune under tension". What this means is that you always wanting to be tensioning the string (moving from flat) as you move towards being in tune.
If your string is sharp, drop down the tension so that the string is flat and then tension it until it is in tune. Never drop down the tension directly to the in-tune spot.
