Increase Windows Vista Battery Life
Vista Battery Saver is a program that allows you control the deactivation of Aero and the Sidebar in Vista when you are on battery power, or when battery power goes below some threshold. The claim is that this can save 70% of your battery. I doubt it. But over-inflated claims or not, this is a good idea and I'm sure it'll save some battery power since it'll reduce CPU cycles and therefore the usage of the fan.
The Vista Battery Saver is still in beta, so I'm sure there'll be more changes coming, it seems to provide a good level of control, and it is nice to be able to turn off these more CPU-intensive features when on battery power. Now that this has been done, it kind of makes you wonder why Microsoft didn't just build this into Vista.
