Bypass blocked websites from school or work

If your computer at home or work has filtering on it so that you can't go to sites like MySpace, FaceBook, or use bit torrent sites, there are a lot of proxy sites that allow you to go to them and enter a URL so that you can get to your final destination. The problem is that these proxy sites are only good for a short period of time, a couple months at the most, since the filtering software manufacturers catch on to them and update their software to block them too. Plus, a lot of these proxy sites are annoying with their ads and the like.

But if you have a computer of your own at home, or a friend has one, you PeaceFire offers the "Circumventor" program, which can be used to get around all web blocking programs. You install it on your home computer and then use it as a proxy to get to your final destination. Since it's only used by you, and maybe some of your friends, it's low enough traffic that the web filtering software never becomes aware that it's being used by a proxy, so it doesn't get blocked. Plus, since it's your, or a friend's, own computer, there is less concern about security or sniffing of traffic going through the proxy.

Installing the Circumventor software isn't for every one. But if you are fairly computer savy, you have your own computer at home with unfiltered access, and you are looking to get unfiltered access from a filtered site like work or school, this just might be for you.

This is great news. Does the software access a certain TCP/IP port. If it does then we are stuffed at our school because they have blocked every port (it seems) except normal http, email, https, ftp and a few others left open.

Special ports are all blocked.

Anyway, thanks for the tip.
