Letting your bird fly free in the house
If you are going to let your pet bird fly around in your house, make sure your toilet seat and lid are down!
We sometimes let out bird fly around the house to stretch her wings. We've been doing this for years without any incidents other than the occasional misplaced bird poop. But last week disaster almost struck. The toilet seat was down, but the lid was up. Our bird got thirsty, saw water, and went for it--right in the toilet. While she was able to get in without a problem, since the seat overhangs the rim of the toilet, she couldn't get out. Luckily we heard her before she got too tired to keep herself out of the water. But we learned an important lesson, from now on when our bird id flying in the house all of the toilet seats and lids will be down.
