Keeping the location bar in Firefox
When sites pop up new windows, they often leave off the navigation parts of the browser window as well as the location bar. This is typically done to keep the window as small as possible and make things look more aesthetically pleasing. While I'm all for aesthetics, I really hate losing the location bar in my browser window. Without the location bar, you have no idea where a link may take you until you click on the link. To me, this is a security issue since I always look at a link location before clicking on it.
Luckily though, Firefox allows you to override this control so that even if a site tries to open a new window without a location bar, the location bar will still be there. To set this up, go to the address bar in Firefox and type about:config. This will list a ton of settings. Scroll down to the setting called dom.disable_window_open_feature.location. If you double click on this line, it will toggle the value from false to true. Once this value is set to true, any time a site opens a new window, the location bar will always be shown.
