Run Windows sidebar gadgets on the desktop

If you like the Gadgets available in the Windows Vista sidebar, but you don't like the having the sidebar open, there is an easy solution available. It turns out that when the sidebar is open, you can drag gadgets off of the sidebar and place them on your desktop. If you then close the sidebar, the gadgets stay on your desktop.
