Make rice less sticky

There are times, such as when making sushi, that you want your rice to be sticky. And then there are times, such as when making a pilaf, that you want your rice to be less sticky. If you want to make your rice be less sticky, rinse the rice several times in clean water before you cook it. This will remove the excess starch from the outer surface of the rice. And then when you cook it, the rice will be less sticky.
