Recycling electronics
If you're ever wondering what to do with your old electronics, you shouldn't be throwing them away. Electronics contain a lot of nasty chemicals in them. And a lot of the components in them can be recycled. So throwing them away makes no sense.
But recycling electronics has traditionally been hard since not many places take them. But that's changing now. Best Buy (chances are there is one near you) is offering free recycling of electronics at all of their stores. This will make recycling electronics a *lot* easier.
There are some restrictions on what they take: nothing with freon, no TVs over 32", and no disk drives. But they're still taking more than 90% of the stuff that people currently throw away. You can read all about their recycling program at http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&id=pcmcat149900050025
