Zooming web pages in Firefox 3
All web browsers have the ability to zoom in to make a page bigger. But Firefox 3 has an additional "feature" that may confuse you. If you zoom in on a web page, Firefox 3 will remember the zoom level. If you then come back to the page later, it'll automatically zoom in to the level you were at last time. I guess this could be cool. But for me it was just confusing as all heck and I wasted 15 minutes trying to figure out what was going on.
To keep myself from running into this in the future, I turned off this feature so that Firefox would *not* remember the zoom level for sites. If you want to turn this off, it's pretty easy to do.
- Type about:config in the address bar
- In the Filter enter browser.zoom.siteSpecific to find the preference with this name.
- Once the browser.zoom.siteSpecific preference is shown, double-click on the row to set the value to false.
If you ever want to turn this back on, you can just repeat the process. Every time you click on the row, it toggles the value back and forth between true (feature is on) and false (feature is off).
