Selecting lots of icons on the desktop

If you need to select a lot of icons on your desktop, don't bother clicking on all of them while holding down a key to perform multiple selections. Instead, use the click the mouse on the desktop and drag the mouse. It'll automatically select every icon that is inside the area of the box you define with the mouse. This is the quickest way to select a large number of things on your desktop and it'll work on both a Mac and any recent version of Windows.
