Deleting locked files in Windows
Have you ever run into a problem on Windows where it won't let you delete a file because it thinks the file is in use. This is really frustrating when you know that the file is in fact not in use. One way to solve this problem is to reboot your machine... the standard Windows solution. While this almost always works, it's is time consuming to wait for your machine to shut down, restart, and then get back to the state you were in before you have to shut down.
Turns out there is a much easier way to delete locked files in Windows. There's a free program called Unlocker. You run it and select the file that has the lock on it, and, like the name of the program implies, it unlocks it. You are then free to delete the file. Unlocker runs on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, and it's free. A nice easy solution to an annoying problem.
