Disable the Vista welcome center
Once you install Vista every time it starts you'll be bombarded with "helpful" advice on how to get the most out of Vista. This is the Vista welcome center. When you get tired of the Vista welcome center (which shouldn't take long), here's how you can disable it.
Go to the Start menu and type msconfig in the Search box.
The UAC will ask you to confirm you really want to do this (get used to this in Vista).
Click the Startup tab.
Uncheck the box next to Show welcome center.
Click OK to save your changes.
This will disable the welcome center from running when you start Vista.
