Testing egg freshness

To test if an egg is fresh, put it in a cup of lightly salted water. If the egg floats, it is fresh. If the egg sinks, it is bad and you shouldn't use it.

This is the exact opposite of every other source I ever read on the subjsect, so I would suggest you keep googling if you're not sure about your egg freshness; I've always remembered the rule of thumb by imagining that the floating egg is being "rejected" by the bowl or pan because it is bad.
