WANTED: Potty training advice

We're going to be potty training our daughter soon. Does anyone have any tips on potty training that worked for them? The more miraculous the results, the better :)

Thanks,
Marla

We used the send-them-to-Grandma's-house-for-a-week method. It worked great!

Positive reinforcement: Give a treat to your child each time she goes to the bathroom. Do this even if she doesn't make it all the way there. Put a treat in the bathroom to encourage her to go there.

Negative reinforcement: Supposing she wants to get rid of diapers or pullups get rid of one each time she goes to the bathroom. Tell her when all of the diapers are gone she'll be a big girl.

My daughter took to this method right away. Took about a week for her to get fully trained.

Removed her diaper during the day and allowed her to only wear it at night. She actually enjoyed the feeling of not having the diaper on. She also liked the fact that mom and dad would come running the moment she said she had to go potty!
Second, toss the idea of pull ups

toss the pull ups....they have fancy pictures which the kids love. Instead, try taking you child to the store (works better for the little girls) and let him/her pick out their favorite design....princesses etc.
Initially she had a couple of accidents in the first week. Now, she is 100 %. She was fully potty trained by 26 months old (thats 2yrs and 2 mths for the guys).

when I say pick out a favorite design I mean underwear. Once she had about 2 weeks of no bedwetting we removed the diaper for bedtime.
Dont go crazy with the positive reinforcement. Kids tend to lavish in it and once the positive reinforcement ceases they may revert to wetting themselves for added attenetion.
