If you traveling Europe and are planning to take the Eurorail, consider traveling on the train at night. When we went to Europe, we often traveled the train at night. Getting a berth on the train at night is cheaper than most inns, and usually not much more expensive than staying at a hostel. And, when you travel at night, you don't waste a day of your vacation on travel. This way you get to see more at all of your destinations.
