1. Look for people who are involved in a common business or industry and request to be friends. Once you become their friend, take the time to get to know them and see how you can network and participate in joint ventures with them.
2. Find old contacts and friends and make friend with them so you can stay in touch and they will see what you are doing and if they are interested they will let you know.
3. Search for the same people you are following on Twitter and become their friends. Usually these people will be open to the idea since you are already acquainted.
