To get rid of fruit flies safely get a spray bottle and fill it with water and add a little liquid dish detergent. Set the spray tip so that it sprays out a fog pattern. When you see the fruit flies, spray them. The water and soap will stick to their wings and they won't be able to fly. So once you spray them, you can just clean them off the counter, or floor, or where ever they landed
