Taking better photos at night
All pictures will be better if taken with a steady camera. But holding the camera steady at night is even more important as shutter speeds are increased in low-light conditions and this makes any movement more likely to result in blurring of your photos.
A simple trick to get better pictures at night if you don't have a tripod is to set your camera down on a solid surface and use the timer on your camera. Pushing the button on your camera to take a picture can cause the camera to move and blur your picture. By using the timer you aren't touching the camera at all when the picture is taken and so there will be no movement. Crisper photos will result.
