Save power by putting electronics on a power strip
You'd be surprised how much power things like your TV, DVD player, stereo, etc, use. Even when they are off. We got a thing called a Kill-A-Watt (link below), which monitors the power usage of an outlet.
In our case, our entertainment center was using 25 Watts when off. IT doesn't sound like a lot, but over the course of a year, that adds up to 220 kW*hours. That's a lot! For us, that's almost half a month's utility bill.
To save this power, use a power strip with an on/off button. Plug all of your electronics into this strip, and then keep it off when you are not using it. If you have a TiVo, or something else that needs to be on at all times, just plug that into a different outlet
