Pinging with the Blackberry Storm

The Blackberry Storm lets you send and receive ping messages when instant messaging so you can if the other person is still there. When you get a ping, your phone will vibrate.

To send a ping when you have a conversation going, hit the Menu button and select "Ping Contact" from the menu.

If you don't like getting pings, you can configure your phone to ignore them. To set this up go to the Blackberry Messenger app and then got to the Contact list screen. Press the Menu button and select "Options". There will be an entry called "Vibrate When Receiving a Ping". Change the value there to "No" and then press the Menu button and select "Save". People will no longer be able to ping you.
