Getting the white skin off oranges
If you need to peel an orange and it's important that the orange slices not have any of the white skin on them (perhaps the orange is being used for presentation), place the orange in boiling water for 5 minutes before you peel it, and then peel it while it is still hot.
Doing this will not affect the flavor of the orange (once it has cooled down), but it will result in a cleaner orange, with no residual skin, once the orange is peeled.
