Putting a background image into type in PhotoshopA cool thing you can do with Photoshop is take some text, and apply an image to it such that the image is then the background for the typed text (as opposed to just a color). This a fairly easy effect to do in Photoshop.
1. Open a new image, select the text tool and type out the text you want. You should select a font/size combination that results in fairly wide type so that you will be able to see the image in it it is applied. 2. Open the image file. The image you select should be larger than the text it is filling, otherwise there will be gaps. Once the image is opened, copy and drag it over to the new image which contains the text. When it is copied over, it will be in its own layer on the new image. 3. With the new layer containing the image still being active, select "Menu -> Layers -> Group with Previous". 4. Once you do this, the image is then clipped by the text such that any part of the image which does not overlap the text is not shown. The result is text with an image fill. If you want to change the location of the image so that it shows up better in the text, you can select it and move it around and the changes will take effect at once. You can also go back to the text layer and adjust the text content, size, or font and those changes will take effect also. This effect is very easy to achieve and it has a great visual impact when used correctly.
