Setting Firefox as the default browser on a Mac

If you want to change your default browser on the Mac to Firefox, or to any other browser for that matter, it's done in a somewhat odd fashion.

You have to run Safari. From the "Safari" menu, select "Preferences", then select the "General" tab. On this panel, there is an entry called "Default Web Browser". It will have all of your installed browsers listed and you can choose any of them to use as your default.
