Get rid of Windows Messenger in XP
I finally figured out how to keep Windows Messenger from starting every time that Windows started. Here's how it's done.
- Go to Start -> Run and type "gpedit.msc"
- In the left-hand pane, open the + signs next to "Computer Configuration", then "Administrative Templates", then "Windows Components", then select "Windows Messenger".
- In the right-hand pane, double-click on "Do not automatically start Windows Messenger initially" and select the radio button to enable this. Then click "Apply".
Then you are done, next time you start Windows, Windows Messenger will not start automatically.
