Search and replace formats in Word
In case you ware not aware, Microsoft Word has some very unusual search and replacement capability that allows you to both search and replace based on things other than just the text. You can use formatting and special characters. For example, you could use Microsoft Word to find all text that is shown in bold and replace it with the same text in italics.
To get use this functionality when you go to either the Search or the Search and Replace dialog click the "More" link to show all of the options. Put the cursor in either the "Find what" or "Replace with" field and then go to the "Format" or "Special" pulldown menu and select what you want. It's simple once you know about it, and very powerful too.
