Mac shortcuts for shutting down
There are a bunch of keyboard shortcuts related to the Eject key (the one for ejecting disc in the DVD drive).
Control + Shift + Eject -- This puts your screen to sleep (my personal favorite for saving energy when I am stepping away from the computer).
Option + Command + Eject -- Puts your computer to sleep.
Control + Command + Eject -- Restart your computer.
Control + Option + Command + Eject -- Shutdown your computer.
