Create your own system sounds on the Mac

You can create your own system sounds for the Mac. The only requirement for system sounds is that they be saved in the AIFF file format. This format is available when you are saving from Garage Band, so that gives you an easy way to create/save system sounds.

Once you've created your sound put it in the ~/Library/Sounds folder. Once you do that it'll show up in your system preference and other programs when you are setting sounds to use for events.
