Reduce fire danger when broiling

A good way to reduce the chance of a grease fire when broiling meat, add a thick layer of salt to the bottom of your broiling pan before you place the broiling rack onto the pan. Then when the meat is cooking the salt will absorb the fat and grease that drips through the broiling rack. This will help reduce flare-ups and grease splatters which in turn will help reduce the chance of a grease fire when broiling.
