Removing skunk odor
If your dog ends up getting sprayed by a skunk, you want to try and remove the odor as quickly as possible.
Create a mixture of the following (you can halve the mixture if you are doing this for a cat or a small dog):
1/2 cup baking soda
2 teaspoons dish soap
2 quarts hydrogen peroxide
Apply the mixture to the pet before getting the pet wet with water. Rub the solutions into your pets fur (make sure to wear dish gloves or you'll get the smell on you) and let it sit on your pet for about 15 minutes. If you know where the skunk landed the stink, you can concentrate on that area.
Since your pet will stink, and this mixture will be a mess, you'll want to be doing this outside.
Once the mixture has sat on your pet, rinse it off completely with water. Then shampoo and rinse your pet as you would normally.
This should be sufficient to remove the skunk odor from your dog or cat.
