Downloading images from the web on a Mac

Everybody knows you can download images from web pages by right-clicking on them and selecting an option to download the image. But on the Mac (not sure about the PC or Linux) there's a much quicker way to download images. Just click on the image and drag it onto your desktop or any other place you want. The image will be automatically downloaded and saved. This is a much quicker way to download images from the web.
