How to paint brick
If you have an old brick exterior, or interior, that you are looking to paint, it is fairly easy to do so. The key to doing this is to make sure that the surface is clean before your start.
The easiest way to do this is to use a power washer. Completely clean the surface with the power washer and let it dry. Once it is dry, you need to use a primer that is designed specifically for masonry. You can get this type of primer at any hardware/paint store. Once the primer is on, you can paint it like a normal house.
I find that because most bricks have a LOT of nooks and crannies, it is much easier to paint using a sprayer. If you try to use a brush or a roller, it is nearly impossible to fill in all of the nooks.
