Disabling the print notification message in Windows XP SP2

In Windows XP, Service Pack 2, a balloon window is displayed every time a print job is sent to a networked printer. The window lets you know the job is done. Personally, I found it annoying and not very informative. If you want to get rid of it, here's how to do so.

1 - Go to Start > Run and type regedit. This will open the registry editor.

2 - Expand the plus sign (+) next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then Printer, then select Settings. This is all done in the left-hand pane.

3 - In the right-hand pane, there should be a bunch of entries. Find the one called EnableBalloonNotificationsRemote. Double-click on it, and set the value to 0. If there is no EnableBalloonNotificationsRemote entry, right-click on Settings (in the left=hand pane) and choose New -> DWORD Value. Set the name of the new parameter to be EnableBalloonNotificationsRemote and the value to 0.

Once you restart the print spooler (or reboot), you can print without the annoying message.
