Road rash & burns

I was in a bike accident last fall and got some serious road rash. I tried putting a bandage wrap on but it kept sticking to my rash so I was going without anything on it for about a week. After a week it still hurt bad enough that I had to make a little bridge with my pillows so my sheet wouldn't even touch my leg. After talking with a friend she recommended getting some Tegaderm. It is a waterproof adhesive pad that keeps out dirt & germs. It also keeps the area moist for healing. After having this on for 2 days I was able to start wearing long pants, sleep regularly etc. It also healed with a limited scar. Actually I think after I get a tan it will show even less. One other thing, I could only find this at a drug store. It is made by 3m and is a NexCare product. Some boxes will have tegaderm on the front of the box but most of the time it just says "Hospital Name Tegaderm dressing" on the side. I added a link below to help you recognize the box. The sizes are kind of limited but I cut off the adhesive off the top of one and laid the another over it and it sealed just a well as one.

I'll second this. I had a similar incident two weeks ago that resulted in 2 grazes - one on my hip and one on my elbow.

I used Tegaderm on my hip, it healed cleanly and required the use of 3 tegaderm pads.

I used DuoDerm on me elbow. It kept leaking, required 5 patches and although most of it healed, there was a small spot that got infected (although this could be due to repeated bumping)
