Don't generate waste when you pack your lunch

If you pack your lunch for work or school, there's the possibility that you are generating a lot of waste as a result. Sandwich bags, chip bags, juice boxes, all of these thing generate waste. And when you think about how many of these things you use over the course of a year, it can really pile up. Here are some tips that will help reduce the waste generated by your lunch.

- Don't use sandwich bags, saran wrap, aluminum foil, or any other type of throw-away container for your food. Instead, buy some reusable containers that you can put your food in. They'll seal your food just as tight as a zip-loc bag, and they don't generate any garbage.

- If you like chips, cookies, trail mix, or other types of snacks, do not buy the individual servings. These servings have a lot of waste and not much food. Instead, buy the big bag of chips or cookies and put your daily amount into a resealable container.

- Don't buy juice boxes. They are hard to recycle in most areas, and you are generating garbage for every 6oz drink. Instead get a water bottle that you can reuse. Make or mix your juice drink at home and then fill up your water bottle with the drink.
