How to avoid from harming your dog when you exercise
As summer is approaching and more people are going outdoors to exercise with their dogs, I thought it necessary to warn you of a side effect that can easily be avoided through some awareness. If you have a large dog (25 kilos and greater) than be aware of this since it applies to you. Gastric Dilatation or known as twisted stomach is when a dog's stomach rotates and interrupts blood circulation.
Don't allow the pet to indulge inadequately large consumption of water, several times directly after mild or extenuating exercise create an exaggerated production of gases which the stomach can't get rid of that quick. The animal, feeling uncomfortable, insists on consuming water, dilating the stomach even more, until it partially or completely rotates on itself, closing all chances for the gases to escape, which unchains the surplus of gastric juices and the cycle to restart.
