Free signed SSL certificates

One of the big problems with SSL certificates is the cost. Getting a signed SSL certificate from a place like VeriSign can cost thousands of dollars per year. It's one of the reasons that smaller sites that still want to use SSL end up using self-signed certificates. While these are good in that they encrypt the traffic, lots of browsers warn users when a site uses a self-signed certificate. So what to do?

StartSSL offers signed certificates for free! They also offer higher levels of service for as little as $25 per year. If you've been signing your own SSL certificates, do yourself and your users a favor and use the service from StartSSL to get a signed certificate. Even if you don't want their additional services, you can get this signed certificate for free!
