Keep salads fresh longer
If you are preparing a salad ahead of time for a big meal, you'll want to slightly salt the salad ahead of time and then store it in the refrigerator. The salt and the cold will keep your salad fresh and crisp for several hours, as if it was just tossed. Also, this should be obvious but, don't put the salad dressing on until it is time to serve the salad.
