Reducing red eye
While image processing software can take care of red eye in flash photos, most photos never have the red eye removed by the people who take them. Even worse, film cameras can't remove it at all unless the images are scanned. So if someone is taking your picture and you don't want to look like a demon with red eyes, here's a tip you can use: don't look directly at the camera. The red eye happens because the light from the flash bounces off your retina and back to the lens. If you look slightly away from the camera, the light will not reflect back to the lens, and you'll be spared the indignity of having your picture taken with red eyes.
