Word completion in OpenOffice
By default OpenOffice performs word completion. If you find this feature a little bit annoying, there are some things you can set to make it better.
To change any of the settings, go to Tools -> Autocorrect... and then click on the Word Completion tab.
The first setting to look at is the Min. word length. You can increase this value above the default of 5 so that the word completion only kicks in on longer words. Of course, if you really like word completion, you can reduce this value also.
Another setting that makes word completion more useful is Append space. If you check the box next to this, when a word is completed automatically it will append a space to the word so you can keep on typing.
Of course if you still can't stand the interruption that word complete brings, you can just turn it off by unchecking the box next to Enable word completion.
