Stuck CD/DVD on the Mac
If you have a CD or DVD stuck in the drive on your Mac here are some tricks you can try to get it out after you try the usual methods of ejeecting a disk:
- Try opening iTunes and ejecting the disk from there. Even if it won't come out when you try to eject from the Finder, this will sometimes work.
- If you have a tray-type drive, open a terminal window and type the following command: drutil tray eject followed by the Enter key.
- Shut down your computer then restart it while holding down the mouse button. Keep holding down the mouse button until the disc is ejected. If you get the login screen and the disc has still not ejected, then this will not be the trick that will work for you.
- Shut down your computer then restart while holding down the Command + Option + O + F keys. This will boot you into the open firmware mode. Once you have a prompt type eject cd and hit Enter. Regardless of if this works or not, you'll then want to type mac-boot to boot up your Mac.
I hope these tricks help if you have a disc stuck in your Mac's superdrive.
