Protecting files on the Mac
Protecting files on the Mac
On the Mac, you have the ability to lock files to protect them. Locking a file keeps it from being edited. A locked file can still be moved into the trash. But you will need to confirm that you really want to delete it both when moving it into the trash and when emptying the trash.
To protect a file, find it in the Finder, right-click on the file and then select "Get Info" from the menu. You'll see a window like this:
Check the box next to "Locked" and the file will be locked and protected against accidentally editing or deletion
