Making bookshelves child proof

Once your baby becomes a toddler, it really changes the amount of baby-proofing you need to do in your house. One important thing to consider is bookshelves. Bookshelves are narrow, tall, and heavy which can make them very unstable if, say, an additional 20 pounds in the form of your kid is added to the front of the bookshelf. If a bookshelf falls on your child, they can be severely hurt. So if your kid is a climber, make sure your strap your bookshelves to the wall. Be sure to use at least two steel straps per bookshelf with screws that go well into the bookshelf and the studs in the wall. This is the only sure-fire way to make sure your bookshelves are safe for your toddler.
