Protecting cabbage from pests
Cabbage is susceptible to many pests. Here are some tips to preventing some of them.
1 - Place crushed egg shells around your cabbage. Use them to form a defensive ring around the plant to prevent pests which crawl to the plants in the soil.
2 - Cabbage is most susceptible to air-borne pests like the cabbage butterfly. To deter them, plant either Wormwood or Chamomile near the plants. If it's too late in the season to plant these herbs, but some of the herbs and lay the plants across the top of the cabbage.
3 - Use floating row covers (http://www.amazon.com/Floating-Row-Cover-61-ft/dp/B0001513QE) to cover the plants. These will help reduce the threat posed by air-borne pests.
