Easy way to save gas

It's really easy folks: slow down!

When you accelerate, the faster you accelerate the more gas you use. Pretty simple stuff. If you are just going from one red light to the next, what's the hurry? See a red light up ahead? Then let off the gas. A good way to know if you are accelerating too fast is to pay attention to how much braking your are doing. If you are doing a lot of braking or heavy braking, you are probably accelerating too fast and wasting gas.

When you drive on the freeway, the power required to drive at higher speeds goes up dramatically as your speed increases. The easiest way to improve your gas mileage on the freeway is to slow down. You don't have to drive like your Grandma. But ask yourself, on a 10 mile freeway trip, is going 10 mph faster really go to make that much of a difference? The difference between 65 mph and 75 mph over 10 miles is about a tad over one minute. If you really need that extra minute in your life, go for it. But when you don't need that extra minute, think about the fuel savings you could be enjoying.
