Getting rid of extra yarn when switching from a knit to a purl
If you end up with loose yarn on the left edge of a cable or rib when switching from a knit to a purl, the problem is the location of the yarn on the needle. This happens when you are purling too far down the needle. Move the stitches close to the needle tips and the extra yarn problem will go away.
