Seeing truncated files names in the Finder

In the Max OS X Finder, long files names will often be truncated when using the list or column views. In addition to the obvious, but slow, solution of increasing the column widths, there is an easier way to see the full file name.

Put your mouse over the name of the file. After a couple of seconds, the full name will be shown. If you are impatient like me, you can get the full file name instantly by putting the mouse over the name and depressing the Option key. If you have a bunch of files like this, you can hold down the Option key and as you mouse over the file names, the full names will be shown.
