Speeding Office 2008 on a Mac

The load times for Office 2008 applications on the Mac can be pretty slow for some Macs, even newer models. If you are experiencing slow load times for MS Word in Office 2008, one thing you can try is to fonts for previews since some people report that the slow load time is due to issues related to fonts.

To do this, open Word and in the menu bar go to Word > Preferences... and select the General pane if you are not already there. Then uncheck the boxes labeled WYSIWYG Font and Style Menus and Show Project Gallery At Start Up. Click OK to save your changes.

You can then Quit word and restart it to see if this has made the load time faster.
