Use stockings to close drain holes on pots

It's important to have drain holes on your pots so that excess water can drain. However, these holes make a convenient point for ground crawling bugs to get into your plants and wreck havoc.

A simple solution is to cut up used stockings and use the pieces to cover the holes before you put the dirt in the pot. This way water can get out, but pests can't get in.
