keep track of the phase of the moon

MoonMenu is a nice little app for the Mac that shows the current phase of the moon in the menu bar of your Mac. You can mouse over the moon icon in your menu bar to get current information about the moon's activities for the day (or night) like moon rise and moon set. They claim to charge for this software, but I downloaded the trial and it seems to have no limit to how long you can use it.
