running multiple firefox versions on a Mac
On the Mac it's really easy to check out the latest version of Firefox 3 without having to give up the stability and support for Firefox 2. Just go to the Firefox site and download Firefox 3. Once the .dmg file is downloaded, click on it to unpack the application and you will see a window like this telling you to drag Firefox into your applications folder...
Installation window for firefox on the mac
Do *not* just drag it as they say. Instead, drag it onto your desktop. Once it is on your desktop you can rename the file from Firefox to something unique like Firefox3. Once you do that, you can then drag Firefox3 into your applications folder at it will not overwrite your existing Firefox application. Doing this makes it's really easy to run Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 at the same time.
